A bad steering knuckle? Why would you think it's bad ? Usually the bj's or tierod ends go bad , not the knuckle itself. Or are you talking aout some thing else?

the first thing you ought to do is jack the truck up and grab the tire at 12 and 6 then push/pull on it and see if there is any play. it would be good to have an assistant to look at the ball joints to see if they are moving when you try to move the tire. you should also grab the tie rod ends and try to move them up and down. a little rotation in the tie rods is ok but if you can jiggle them in the socket at all then they are worn out. if you let a worn tie rod end go too long and it fails then you will probably need new pants along with everything attached to the wheel that it failed on. thats if you don't wreck when it pops apart.

Consider taking it in to a good alignment shop, most outfits will not do an alignment with a bad front end part.
May charge a nominal $20 fee for checking it out, small price to pay for pro advice, then you can fix it yourself.
Problem is finding an honest, knowledgeable guy.
