Hello, i recently rebuilt my trans in a 99 ram. I have engine flare up going from 2nd to 3rd gear, wonder if anybody could shed some light on this. Put a Jr. shift kit in and shifts just fine at 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. When you go past 1/2 throttle i get engine flare. Can anyone shed some light on this.

 

Engine flare? You mean like its slipping going into 3rd? I just rebuilt my trans last January myself. While in there I also swapped out my solenoid shift arm with a bigger one (my cousin had an extra one).

Anyways, it took about a month or two for everything to wear in and finally start working the best. Mine didn't really slip at all, but it really snaps into gear now with the changes I made. I also put the JR shift kit in.

How long ago did you rebuild it?
