Default air fuel mixture?

truck seems to be running pretty rich. you can hardly stand behind the truck because it smells like gas so bad. also the oil smells like gas. I'm thinking maybe i should get the air/fuel mixture checked maybe. I'm consistly getting 10-12 mpg in the city, so its not sucking gas terrible, i dont think. she runs fine, idles smoothly, maybe i shouldnt mess with it at all? any ideas

if you still have a cat.... you wont for long. if it is running rich enough to smell it, you cat will melt in a matter of days.

The cat is still there. its been like this for atleast a year. It did have a bad o2 sensor a year ago that had to be replaced. The truck looked like it was a desiel blowing black smoke. It would studder all the way up to about 3000 rpm, then would pull like a raped ape. got that fixed and its smelled like gas ever since.P0430- catalyst system efficiency below threshold i get that CEL light every oncea an while on the highway, but it goes off by its self

I know that the older Cats are having a hard time with the mandated 10% ethanol standard, but you shouldn't be smelling gas.

I'd have it checked, it's possible you have a blown out cat coupled with a bad O2 and just running pig-rich.

It sounds like gas is getting past your rings and into your crankcase when you shut it off. I would do a compression test and go from there.
