A\C Question
I tried to search. But couldn't come up with anything that's close to what i'm seeing. Or at least that i can tell.
When I got the truck (1996 Indy Ram) the compressor would engage and disengage.
Filled it up with freon. It engaged and all is well. Then a month later, same thing.
Went and got a shop and he was not able to find a leak, so filled it up with freon again and put dye in there.
Now what it does is it engages, cold air blowing....but when i am moving....every 8 - 12 secs i hear a click. It's not it disengaging and engaging again. Trying to figure out what that click is.
When the car is parked with the AC on, it does not make that clicking noise, only when the car is moving.
Clutch?
Not sure what to check for.
thank you,
-D
PS...my apologies if this was posted somewhere.

They didn't check in the cab. To be honest i'm not sure what they did check. All he said was he did vacum, and then filled it with freon, added dye so he would be able to see where it did leak once it happens again.
The thing is right now, it's been ok for a few weeks, i just noticed the click last week. And the AC still blows cold air.

I don't know how well they did the evac, but I do know that it's probably leaking from the evap core under the dash. And no die will help with finding that leak. They should have used a heated tip refrigerant leak detector, and probed into the lower heat duct.
