Nope. I have a detroit in my Chevy and there's no clicking or clacking but then again between the exhaust and radio not much can be heard, lol

My dodge has lsd's for now. I want the detroit truetrac for the front and rear when I re-gear the truck in the far future.

I want a LSD again but I have a stock 4.10 setup now do to the ride, little longer life. But I def. want a Limited slip again. If you did your research and you know what comes with the LSD then I'd go for it!

LSDs useless as an open differential? Have you ever driven with one? I have, my previous 1995 Dakota had a rear LSD. And my Ram has an open. I can feel the difference in everything. They are obviously not as good as a locker for off-roading, but they would help.
I had an LSD in my B2 and have several friends that wheel with LSDs, including a gear driven Torsen LSD, they are all useless except on flat ground. When my b2 was a daily driver, I drove it 1000 miles a month with a locker, it's not that bad. My truck is flat out dangerous in the rain, can't pull out into traffic because I just one wheel peel forever. And I use it occaisionaly off-road and at the drag strip so I need something that I know will actually send both wheels power. Selectable is nice except for it's not very practical to lock it in and out the street when I wanna accelerate.

And not lockers don't click when driving down the road, they DO (most of them) click when you are cornering but it's usually too quiet to hear it except on low speed turns with the windows down.

The LSD in my Dakota was very handy. Helped get me out of many a ditch, pulling people out especially. The Ram so far on the other hand almost got stuck in a ditch last winter. Agree to disagree on LSDs, I guess.

Drag strip, I agree, locker. Off roading, again, locker. Daily driver, disagree, locker will cause wear and tear. Again, agree to disagree.

An LSD is better than an open rear but not by much. The problem with an LSD is it gives you a certain level of confidence, then lets you down when you need it the most. Its not a matter of if, but when. Lockers don't do that.
As far as street performance, todays lockers are quite refined from thier inception 30some years ago. But because it is a mechanical lock up, you should expect an occasional sound. Factors that increase noise (or other "issues") are vehicle weight and gearing. On a Ram I doubt you'd notice anything vs, say a jeep, duster or mustang . You'll certainly notice it off road.

I guess if there's a downside to lockers, it's the confidence thing. Lockers give you incredible confidence to take you anywhere. However your rocker panels, nerf steps, U-joints and skidplates can pay a horrible price.

my ram has and lsd and I do light trail riding with it. I used to get into some rough stuff though I only had to put it in 4x4 when I got into deep mud other than that it has never been stuck in rain light mud or even slushy snow it it rarely looses any traction at all so if all you need is something to help on the hunting trails an lsd would probably do fine.

That's interesting. I think an air locker would be better personally. Also, that's a Dana 60, so if you have a 1500, your s.o.l. unless you upgrade the rear axle.
