Default hey stroker guys......

ive been dreaming of stroking my 318 into a 390 with the hughes stroker kit. i know how much it will help with my low end numbers, but would i be sacrificing top end performance or reliability?

come on guys. help a brother out. its my dream to rebuild this 98 318. new cam, tri metal bearings. stroker kit, iron ram heads with a mild port. but im unsure if the stroker kit would make performance above 3500 unreliable. what problems would i run into with the sroker motor?

these engines hardly have a "top end" lol. i would consider 3500-4000 mid range. and the answer is no.
You have the right idea. the longer stroke will demand more air at any given RPM, but i think the magnum heads flow pretty good, you would probobly only see flow issues when getting close to 6000rpm.
A better flowing exhaust and intake is a must, but the heads should have no problem supporting 390ci under 5500RPM

thanks helms. she already breathes pretty easily, but i doubt i wanna see the motor turn any more than 5500. its still a bit of a work horse. and the stroker would help hauling and towing i believe
