ok, here goes...: step A: get in truck. step B: drive to parts store. step C: ask salesperson for oil pump for 2001 ram 2500 8.0 v10. step D: pay for pump. step E: have fun putting it in

sorry if that came off a little dick-ish. lol

it was kind of dick-ish.

ok, so i went over to rockauto.com and autozone.com and looked up an 00 and 01 V10 and guess what.... no listing for oil pump. does that mean its the dreaded.... dealer only? if so it'll cost $5,000.

try your local parts store, including napa if you got one.
and welcome to DF.

i'm sorry. i just don't really understand why its hard for some people. we get people on here all the time that ask the simplest questions that they can find out/do themselves without even turning the computer on.

This doesn't answer the original question, but might be something to look into.

Thats right .It's not the whole pump, just a kit. It is built into the timing cover, so it's not as easy as pulling the oil pan like on the v6 or 8's. And did you read the link I provided? It may be as simple as that. And since you have to take it apart anyway, why not look. And BTW ! DV was just exaggerating on the price obviously.
