My husband and I have both been laid off... we are middle age and low on funds...96 ram truck trouble starting....battery and starter both check ok....any suggestions. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Check to make sure your getting fire.
Three items you need to have a running engine:
1. Fuel
2. Fire
3. Air
Unless you have the intake blocked off, air isn't a concern.

Welcome to the forums, and FYI, people that start threads the way you did, won't get help very quick. Yours needs to look more like this: Truck won't start, checked batt, and starter.

Please don't start a new thread, but keep it in the back of your mind. Also, it helps to add all the vehicle info. Year (you posted that) Engine size- 3.9,5.2,5.9 4wd or 2wd? And so on.

trouble starting? how many cranks? will it start the same way everytime or will it not start sometimes?

 

like laramie said, check for spark at the plugs and at the end of the coil wire by pulling a wire and holding it close to the block or pull a plug with the wire attached and ground it to the block. if you have spark then check fuel pressure, i believe you can do the loaner tool for a fuel pressure gauge. and take it to a parts store like advance or oreilleys and get the codes read.
