Need help with AC

Default Need help with AC

Air conditioning seems to be working fine but isn't getting as cold as it used to i can hear the clutch thingy going on and off. Truck does get cooler with it on but not that cold anything i can do to fix this problem? I think i recharged the system some time last year

you could try recharging the system again. i think thats why your compressor is kicking on and off so much. i'm sure someone with greater knowledge of the a/c system will chime in (i ripped my whole system out lol)

If the compressor is going on and off quickly (within a few seconds) you are probably low on charge. That is just a guess though. To get a real idea of what is going on you need a manifold gauge that you can hook up to the high and low side and see what is happening. So far you have given us very little to work with. If you system is low and you recharged it last year, then you have a leak somewhere and this will happen again. You can keep recharging it once a year, but within the near future your system will bite the dust.

I agree with the above statements and will add that the common culprit to fail in these ac systems seems to be the evaporator which is housed in with your heater core. They tend to corrode and leak. Your best bet would be to have a dye test done to confirm your leak issue and correct it as needed. If it is your evaporator leaking it would be advisable to change the heater core while you are in there.
