Default Ordering a AC compressor

I'm trying to order an AC compressor for my 01 1500 5.9 and running into a bit of trouble. The only consensus I can arrive at is a i need a replacement for a Sanden SD7H15. However, there is then a 5 digit model number, in my case U4788. Does this mean anything? I can find the SD7H15 easily but nothing mentions the U4788 at RockAuto, Pepboys or Autozone. If I find something that does mention 4788 it always talked about being for a Dodge Dakota.

Do I need to keep looking or is any SD7H15 ok? I'm specifically looking at the ACDelco 15-21111 from Rock Auto.

Sounds like someone replaced your ac compressor once before with one from a dakota. All you need to do is to look up the ac compressor for your year make model truck. They also fit other vehicles as well. SPECTRA PREMIUM Part # 0658553 will work just fine and is brand new with a warranty. No need to spend 100 extra bucks for the delco unit.

Thanks for the reply, I was starting to wonder that myself. Though the manufacture date on the compressor matches that of the truck so I wonder more if Chrysler did it and not the previous owner. Its an 2001 so who knows what what parts they tossed on here to get rid of them before the model change.

At any rate I'll just order what's recommended for the truck. Thanks for the tip about the Spectra unit.

Incase someone else runs into this, I just received confirmation from Sanden that the 4788 and the 4692 are interchangeable. The only difference between them is what truck comes with it from the factory.
