Default Help!! temp guage

Hello, well i have a problem with truck stalling. 99 1500 Ram 2 wd 5.9. Notice when water temp guage goes back to 130 it stalls or spits a sputters. Does the temp sender have any direct affect on truck performance. Watched it go down and truck ran erratic then it came back to normal and truck smoothed out. Hope someone has run across the same problem and can help. Thanks.

maybe the sender is bad or a loose connection and when you see it go to 130 its actually just losing connection, yes it does affect driveability and they are known to break apart.......if you dont know, it is located behind your alternator or around your thermostat housing......thats my guess

Dakotas Ram, thank you for the info. That was the problem, changed the coolant sensor and everything seems to be back to normal. Thanks again!

Dakotas Ram, my sensor was in one piece but the volt readings were crazy. I actually watched the temp guage go to 130 and then it ran like crap, then it would go back to normal reading and run fine. Had OTC machine on it and volts would go to 4.98 and run crap then back to 1.08 and smooth out. Never thought it would be this out of sort. Also got a code from the map sensor on throttle body but figure it was from the coolant sensor wiggin out. Everything checks good now and back running good. Thanks for the help.
