Default Front Driveshaft questions

So contrary to my last thread. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...nd-in-4x4.html

The noise is actually gone with the front driveshaft out. Hurray for me. Now i've taken the link for the double cardan rebuild.
http://www.pavementsucks.com/tech/doublecardan.php

i have it apart the ball and sleeve in my truck look like this.

I'm not sure what they look like new but i'm positive it can't be normal for it to look like that.

Anwyays, Is the end of the driveshaft supposed to be tapered like this?

Or is that a piece of the ball left on the little shaft?

That is part of the ball assembly from the double cardan joint. That thing is a mess. I have never seen a double cardan joint in that bad of shape. Looks like it was never greased since the day the truck was built. Sheesh.

You are probably right. I just picked up this truck from a farmer who was using it as a work truck. From the looks of things i don't think he maintained it very well.

Thanks for the link. After shipping i'm looking at $144 USD to Canada for just the flange yoke, ball and sleeve. Then i have to add on duty/brokerage fees etc. So i'm looking at about $200 CND after all that stuff.

Does anyone know of any places in Canada that i can get this type of thing from ?

Talking

SO i went out and got the replacement ball kit today and all the u-joints and replaced them all. Put the shaft back in the truck and voila

She works again. No more clicking, no more weird noise in 4x4. Brought her through some mud to test everything and it works like a champ.

Thanks to everyone that helped out with links, advice etc.

Cheers,
