Default Manual Conversion?

So i have been throwin around the idea of converting my truck from a automatic to a 5 speed manual. Anyone done this or heard of anyone who has? Seem too far fetched of a idea?

It's doable, but not feasible. It's another one of them things that you are going to need a donor truck. PCM, Gauges, and the biggee- cutting a hole in your floor.

Donor truck is a must.

I want to do this as well. Far as cutting the hole, there might be a removable plate where the stick goes. I know there was in my F-250 so there might be in the ol' Dodge as well.

Depending on the engine you have, the type of tranny is important. If you have a 318, the NV3500 light duty will do fine. If you have a 360 like me, you'll need either the NV3500HD or an NV4500. The light duty NV3500 (the one behind the 318's in the 1/2 ton trucks) won't handle the 360's torque for very long.

Troof. I want a standard so bad. We just go the wife a 'new' car. A 2000 Beetle 5-speed. I am having an absolute blast driving that car because of the stick. I get in my truck and want to cry because I know I'm sitting atop the 46RE(tarded).

I dont see why you would want to convert. i mean if you want a manual, get a manual. if you want an auto, get an auto. Just to much of an effort, and headache if you ask me. plus re-sellin it later could be an issue. if your worried about that. unless your gonna drive it into the ground like me. i got a long way to go with only 69000 miles. My opinion just live witht he auto or get another truck. but hey its doable, and if you willin more power to ya bro.

If you are getting a donor truck, look for a 2500 with the 5.9L V8 and manual. 1500s didn't offer a manual transmission for the 5.9L V8, only auto. Only manuals offered in 1500s were for the 3.9L V6 and 5.2L V8.
