Default New guy here, I could use some help.

I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2L. It has a rough idle, and if you give it some gas and then let off the rpms drop real low for a few seconds and it almost dies. Also while driving it hesitates, it is inconsistent and doesn't make any noticeable sounds. The hesitation most of the time is when i am at constant speed or lightly accelerating. When I accelerate it doesn't seem to have any loss of power. It doesn't seem to matter whether the truck is hot or cold. I was just looking to see if anyone has had this kind of trouble. Thanks for the help.

Start by changing the plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor. Then if none of that helps, you need to look at the TPS and IAC.

Welcome to the forums.

TPS and IAC are very likely culprits. If you know someone with a quality diagnostic computer ask them to hook it up and look at the parameters that the two sensors are operating at and see if they are out of spec.

ok i ran over to autozone at lunch just to see what codes have poped up and it was p0720 transmission output speed sensor. I am going to have a freind of the families put his diagnostic computer on it tonight or tommorrow, i just was curious as to what codes they would say are on. I don't really think that is the culprute, but I could be wrong.
