Does your 96 have a digital display or the old tumbler style? And if it is digital, do you know what the mileage was before you put the new pcm in? I don't know myself about a 96, just wondering.

the mileage displayed in the odometer, whether tumbler or digital, will remain as is in the cluster. i know that in the later models, its additionally stored in the pcm, as a sort of backup/anti-tamper process. i don't know about a 96.

to fix a speedo problem, i changed my cluster and now have a lower mileage in cluster, with a non-matching, higher mileage in the pcm. i don't really care, but its illegal to do this and then sell it without disclosing it.

the reason its so incredibly expensive to change a pcm or cluster at the dealer, is that they have to send it to a certified, non-cheating, non-lying place to set the mileage and VIN. dealers (cheaters and liars) are not allowed to change these items.

It has a tumbler, but I didn't know if it was stored in the PCM as well.
