Default Simple Question/Tranny Fluid Level Check

hey I got a question regarding reading the tranny dipstick. The haynes manual says to check it in park but the on the tranny dipstick says to check it in neutral. So I checked it in neutral then in park and there are some differences. So which one is it? BTW before I checked the level of ATF fluid, I shifted it threw all the gears and let it warm up on a level driveway. Now lets see HOW MANY DIFFERENT ANSWERS I GET.

Check it hot and in neutral on level ground. Make sure to set the parking brake just in case.

The only way that you can accurately check it in park is if you have the shift kit installed that allows fluid flow in park! Otherwise you need to be in Neutral
