Default No reverse lights?

For some reason I don't have reverse lights. The switch was replaced in the past from what I was told and they still never worked since. (it passed inspection like this multiple times)

What should I look for as far as why they're not working? It's hard to park at night with no backup lights.

check/replace bulb, check for voltage in the socket,
check for voltage on the wire, but maybe a bad/gunked up socket.
check/replace fuse in the end of the dash, drivers side.
check/replace neutral-safety switch, drivers side, front of transmission, behind the linkage. this is the switch that turns them on/off.

if you have the tow package, there is a reverse light in that trailer connector. if it gets shorted to ground, it'll continuously blow fuses.

when you get it all sorted out, and decide that the stock backup light still suck, look into a set of aux lights like this

Thanks. I'll look into those then. I'll check the towing package harness first. Probably shorted out and blew the fuse. I had this happen on a headlight one time where the pigtail got fried and had to put a new one in.
