Brake woes
If only cash for clunkers were extended... My rear brakes have been grabbing and squealing for a while, not to mention that lining on one side was cracked so I get around to replacing them and picked up new wheel cylinders just because. I start to tear it down and notice something that I should have caught when I replaced the leaking axle seals. The shoes were not correct. The primary and secondarys were reversed. Seeing that I should have probably stopped with the wheel cylinder replacement and just slapped on the new shoes. I went ahead and replaced them anyway. Get everything back together, bleed the cylinders, adjust the rears. Got in checked the parking brake. It was tight. Stepped on the pedal. It was solid. Feeling confident, I go for a spin. Do a few slow stops, all is good. Get some speed and go to stop and it pulls hard to the right. Normally I would guess fronts, but since I just did the rear and it was stopping fine before and the steering wheel isn't grabbing out of my hand I can only guess that the left wheel cylinder is junk. So it will be back to the parts store and another few hours wasted. This truck keeps me busy with replacing parts.
