I have a 96, which is two years older than yours- it has a harness on both of mine. You need to go to someone who knows what they are doing. Find a better supplier for your O2 sensors- online they are 42 bucks vs. 60 at a shop and, they have the harness as well. One of them is more expensive but, it's only like 50 bucks and, it has the harness. Get rid of the non harness type.

Did you simply unhook and leave the O2 sensor unhooked after you reset the computer? When you drove it for 45 mins was it still unhooked?
