Default Replaced Mulit-function switch/hdlights alwys on

I replaced the multi switch on my 96 2500 diesel. Now I've a problem with the headlights staying constantly. I put the old switch back, the same problem takes place. I have no idea as to why they stay on. Any ideas? I'm at a loss here.

When you replaced the mulit function switch did the headlights immediately come on when you plugged it into the wiring harness or did it do it after you truned on the light switch itself?

You probably kinked a wire causing a short somewhere causing the lights to stay on.

Speed,,,the headlight switch was off when I installed the new MFSwitch. The headlights performed as they should, both bright and dims worked. I set the new MFSwitch on the column screwed it in at the top of it's mount then moved the steering wheel up and down, to check for consistency. It would only flicker at a couple of locations. I removed the MFSwitch , pulled the 4 dedicated wires to the headlights and tightened their connectors. After I reinstalled them on the MFSwitch this problem began. I even plugged in the old MFSwith, the same problem. I believe it to be a ground wire problem. I haven't ran a second hand ground from the one that plugs into the MFSwtich yet. Right now I'm not real confident in what "I" want to do next. Thus coming to this board, and thanks in advance.

Ram, I think you're right. There's one green wire that appears to be the ground as the other 3 supply power to the high/low beams and straight juice.

A loss of ground shouldn't allow the switch to function at all. I could be mistaken though.
