Default Lighting Question...

I was doing some reading from my owners manual (finally) and it states something at an ignition switch light, and even lists the bulb as an 1445. What are they talking about? As my ignition switch does not light up, is it suppose too? It an 01 1500 Sport. It does have a clear plastic ring around the key hole. Hmmm. Thanks!

That clear plastic ring is backlit. It only comes on when you first unlock the door so you can easily find the key slot. I think you can get to the bulb by just taking off the column shroud. I believe it is part of the convenience light group option and not functional on all models.

Cool. The next time that I'm bored, I'll take a look. Seems like overkill, as all of the interior lights come on when I hit the remote, and stays on until I start the truck.

yeah napa stocks the bulb. I replaced mine when I got the truck as the bulb was out.
Take out the torx screws that hold the halves of the shroud on and lift off the top one and it is right on the top portion of the ignition cylinder. Took about five minutes to change it.

a torx bit that goes into one of those interchangeable bit screw drivers will be too fat to fit in the screw holes. i believe its a t-20. when i had to take my column off i went to lowes and got a pretty nice task force screw driver set that had a few torx screw drivers in it. task force is cheap so if you get that set then you will have the one you need along with getting a nice set of screwdrivers.
