Well, I replaced the switch, but still have issues. It will go into 4X4, but will not hold it. Sometimes the axle disconnects after a few feet, sometimes it holds a little longer. Also found that the indicator light switch is bad, too. Looks like I will probably break down and go with a Posi-Lock kit. This vacuum system is just too unreliable. Not that I use 4X4 much, but when I do I want to know it is engaged and not be wondering about it. Anybody know where the vacuum source is on the engine for the transfer case switch?

I searched both sites and no results.

How do you like it? Does it engage without having to do any acrobatics like rolling backwards? I think I'm going to go to the cable. This vacuum system is just too iffy. I'm surprised I don't see more bitching in here about it.

You pull the handle and it engages. No if ands or buts about it. You also get the option of two wheel low as well with that setup. Your 4wd light will still work too. the only thing is that you will have to drill a hole through the firewall unless they have a specific location like other applications and you will have to put holes under your dash to mount the handle bracket. I just checked and you have to drill an 11/16" hole in the firewall but hte kit comes with a gromett to fill the hole in. Here is the installation instructions. http://static.summitracing.com/globa...ns/pos-400.pdf

Got it. $215 shipping on Monday. Should be here by next weekend. No wheeling for me over the holiday.

fixed it for ya. i remember drooling over the power wagon back in 04 when i got my truck.

read this before you start and drill a small pilot hole through the firewall before you drill the big one. my pilot came out in the damn steering plate.

oh yeah, if you let the cable get over on the exhaust manifold you'll get to do this.

Default Cable replacement for vacuum lines, 4 by 4

Hey, just seeing if anybody here has done this conversion, my vacuum lines are giving me problems for the 4 by 4 to the front diff diaphragm thing. I heard you can just buy a cable conversion to bypass all the problems associated with the vacuum lines, has anybody done this, will I still get the 4by4 engaged light in the dash?

Thanks

Yes, several people here have. Some like it, some don't, some have made their own.
