Default need tranny help 97 1500 sport

well i need a new trans..was going down the highway about 70 pulling a trailer with a harley on it.. maybe 1000 pounds.. and the tranny went engine redlined..... well fluids burnt and smells like burned up clutches worse then a 16 yr old blonde learning to drive a mtx.....

how hard are they to rebuild? or what other trans can i put in.. from what i understand a 97 will only work in a 97... but the jasper exchange trans will work with any year.... i dont have the money to spend on a 2100 trans but i see trans for a v-10 all the time or what ever....would it be hard to put the 47re in were the 46 went? or do i need a yearfor year replacement?

any one else havea suggestion

V-10 tranny will not bolt up to your engine. The bolt patterns are different for the bellhousing. You could either have yours rebuilt or buy a rebuilt unit or buy a new performance tranny that can handle everything you can throw at it.

Well i just did a car-part.com search for an automatic trans. for a 97 which I also happen to have and the only thing that came up were 97 transmissions. I would have to believe that if other years were applicable that they would have been listed as well since it is a nationwide search engine for junk yards. Hope that helps.
