Default transmission

Hey all. I have a '99 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd 5.2L. The problem I am having is that my trans shifts irratically between two gears when I tromp on the gas. This happens off the line and while rolling slammin the pedal to the floor. Other times it acts like it doesnt want to downshift. There are no other problems or warning lights. ???!!

Hey Steve. The last trans service was 6K ago. Someone at work said it sounds like a speed sensor. Not sure.

the speed sensor is located in the rear end housing and starts to pick up its signal above 20 mph. if below 20 u dont have shifting problems and above u do, its the speed sensor. if u constantly have shift problems no matter the speed its probably the govener pressure soleniod or govener pressure sensor. they can develop leaks. are easy and relativly cheap to replace.
