ac clutch?.....that was the problem with mine

 

wow, sorry. Just what worked for me and thats all they asked for.

 

its all good, i didnt mean to offend you or anyone, i was just sayin what ive done in the past, but that silicone spray works good on windows that dont like to go up or down.

 

Actually I went ahead and tried the silacone spray idea. I soaked the ribbed part of the belt while the engine was running and it stopped squeaking imediately. Two weeks later and still no squeak even with 3 days of pounding rain.

 

I found that my tensioner was not keeping taught tension after the slack was out of the belt. ( with the motor off and the belt off tensioner pulley only) I had to carefully pry sideways on the tensioner housing to create a gap so I could get some graphite lube into the swivel part of the belt tensioner between the plastic washer and the aluminum housing. Then I worked the tensioner back and forth while getting the lube into the gap. It had a sticking point right where it needed to start taking the last bit of slack out of the belt. I had to work it for quite some time to get it to swivel smoothly throughout the entire range of motion. The belt looked tight but that little bit of sticking and slack made my belt squeal until the truck was good and warm.. Hope that makes sense.

 

Replacing the ac pulley is not an option, by the way, as I found out last summer.
Pulley is integral to the unit, so you either have to replace the whole thing, or take it out of the loop with a shorter belt [which is what I opted to do].

 

i used that wet tire foam wile the engine was running and it hasnt done it.
