Ok. I pulled the hood latch under the steering wheel, when to the front of the truck to open the hood and low and behold it never unlatched. Now what do I do? How do I get the hood open? The hood is still locked and the latch under the steering wheel is slack.

 

You are going to have to get creative with a flashlight and a piece of wire. That is unless you have a long enough screwdriver to reach the latch assembly to release it. On the other hand your latch may have released and the catch is jammed.

 

Bump the hood just above the grill like you're closing it. If you're lucky the latch will jump back in place and then pull the release again. If you're not lucky it's broke.

 

Perfect. Thanks much, bumping the hood was the ticket. Now that it's open, a little WD-40 is keeping it moving.
