Ok for when I lift my Ram in winter I'm buying new rims. I am looking at buying Mickey Thompson Classic Lock rims. Here is the question the tires I will be running are 35x15.00x15 Bogger's. Do I get the 15x8 or 15x10 rim? The backspacing on the website says...

Size: 15x8
Bolt Circle: 5-5 1/2"
Backspacing: 3 5/16"

Size: 15x10
Bolt Circle: 5-5 1/2''
Backspacing: 3 5/8''

So which one will work? How far will the tire stick out past the body? And what will be the noticeable difference in how much they stick out between the two choices above?

with a 15" wide tire I'm sure you would need all of 10

 

I would recommend going with the 10" wide rims for that wide of a tire. It will fit it better in my opinion.

The 10" wide wheels will stick out almost 2" wider than the 8" wide ones.

If you don't mind the more skinnier look, a nice combo would be the 35x12.5 boggers on the 8" wide wheel. They wont tear up the wheel bearings so quickly.

Also, do you plan on using these just for wheeling? Do you have another set for road use? They wont last long at all on the road, and there road manners are terrible.

 

I think you need 4.56 gears! and a 10 wide mini.

 

4.56 Gears are already going in before the tires are mounted. This truck will see road use, and gonna be my wheeler rig. Drive the truck to college and it will hit the mud pits that's about it. My apartment I'm moving into is two houses away from the garage where I work lol... so not like it will be on the road a whole hell of a lot. Road noise yeah it will be loud but if it says anything I have straight pipes on my truck and my music is so loud I can't hear the exhaust so tire noise don't bother me lol.

35x16 on a 15x12 aluminum wheel.

Its not the noise that I complain about (that doesn't bother me either), but the constant shaking and awful road manners that I didn't like. Maybe with a brand new set you can get them somewhat balanced, but they will still wander all over the road like a b!tch.

Never again will I own a set of bias ply swampers for my daily driver. I had a set of 36x14.5 Mickey Thompson baja belted's (bias ply) which really were not that bad at all, but those boggers were ridiculous. They shook my truck so bad I had to replace a wheel bearing within the first week of having them (possibly was due anyway). It probably didn't help that I did not balance them though.

 

10" wide wheel is the MINIMUM required for a 15" wide tire. I don't even think you'd be able to mount 15" wide tires on an 8" wheel...

Olyelr your issue with the boggers definitely was because they were not balanced. It's hard to drive a normal street tire when its not balanced much less a mud tire. Thank you guys for the responses. Agreed I had a feeling that getting a 15-16'' wide tire on 8'' rim would be stretching it big time... not to mention it would look retarded.
