a good way to get rid of acid buildup is to put some brush on liquid electric tape on both connections after you clean them really well (and tighten them down of course) . i did that a few months ago and i don't have any buildup at all. the only down side is that if you need to jump someone then you'll have to dig the cables through the tape.
