Doing some research on my 1998 Ram Sport
Careful tho. MOST of those say "Does not fit sport model" That is so annoyoing. I want to update my headlights, but of course, the SS/T is a sport...... So I have to assume they don't fit...

I'm with you guys there. I did get a set of halo projectors for mu mustang and they helped the look a ton. I want to do the same with my ram but not sure what background color to go with. Grey, Chrome or Black. My truck is a nice red not too bright and not to dark. I am a fan of skyjacker too but its soooo expensive to buy. Oh well. So what type of lift do you guys suggest. An add a leaf in the back and longer springs or spacers up front. or a full blown lift kit with all the pitman arms, leafs, bolts and all that stuff? How much do you guys think that my ram will pull? 7000 lbs? Maybe?.
well coming from the guy with a sport model. i would suggest going to either fabtech,,, or i would perfer skjacker as that is whats on my truck now. first off. alot of people dont take in account the colors on the vehicle.. if it is a light color, like white. get a set of black rims in a good fasion that you like and it will look alot better...
just go to ebay, type in 1998 dodge ram halo headlight, or halo tail lights, and even fog light or thrid brake light and for not so much money, you get rid of the factory, Sh*t headlights and tail lights, and put in nice led brake lights, and good progector headlight for about 300 bucks for both with shipping... just have to shop alittle bit with eaby and make sure you find a good set, that are plug and play.. no wire cuting needed... this will greatly improve your look...
as for the stock 360. every motor is differant. i only have the 5.2 in mine, but i dont care abotu Hp, i Love torque... one of my favorite sayings... hp is how hard you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you...

Just an update for everyone. I did go to my dealership and got a print out of my original equipment on my truck. So as I was looking at the printout it says I have a 3.92 rear end. I kno that I have a dana 40 up front. So what is a m.92 out back. Just curious.
Sorry I'm late to the party...
It was an option with most mid to high trim levels. Until the last few model years of the 2nd Gens, the 5.9L V8 wasn't standard with any trim level. So yes, it was possible for Sports to come with it.
Uh, where did he get his 290 number from? The 5.3L V8 (which is not 350ci), which basically replaced the Chevrolet 5.7L 350ci V8, gets 285 horses. Others have already commented on HP numbers enough. The Chevrolet 5.7L 350ci V8, which is what the 5.9L V8 originally competed against, was rated at 255 HP. Yet, a properly running 5.9L V8 with less HP could beat the 5.7L V8 any day of the week.
As others have basically already stated, that is incorrect. Sport was an appearance package, nothing else. It didn't have different rims, suspension, engine, performance options, etc. etc., nothing. Just appearance.
The 2" factory lift was the Off Road package, which a lot of people get confused with the Sport package.
#2 My 5.9 only has 245 HP. I find it hard to believe because my friends untouched chevy 350 has 290. So I'm a little confused.
#3 Dodge ram sport has a factory 2in lift on it. Hard to believe but I have no clue.

Awesome guys. you have been such a great help in helping me to learn all the different stuff about the sport model. I am used to a 2500 Laramie so I was a little confused on the whole sport thing. You guys are all awesome.
Oh and by the way I got the numbers from my buddy's gm truck. I knew they were close but didn't know how close. He said he could pull me around the field no problem I laughed but thought I should have some good facts under my belt first.

and then the link to the ebay link...

and as for the lift. i would go with a lift system, or peice one together.. i can help you do this but you have to email me( Hondakiller22@yahoo.com), it i not that hard to build your own kit, just takes alittle more in time... and a little effert. which alot of people just say F it, get the kit with directions, and thats not bad... take a look at 4wheelonline.com, they have alot fo lfits for our trucks.. i think skyjacker sells a 5.5 inch kit.... looks amazing, and will fit 35" tires with the right rims and back spacing.
( if these linkns dont work, let me know, ill try a differat way)
