First questions!
Mine wasn't redlining at 100.
Anyway.
Not to thread jack, but where do you get block heaters?
Tried some auto stores online and didn't find anything. Tried eBay but my search for 97 ram, 97 dodge, dodge ram, 5.2l -block heater came up with nothing.
I'm probably going to need one when it gets to -20 if Jason's won't start at -10. My truck's been in Texas it's whole life, so it's not really winterized at all. It's almost like Texas winter up here already.

O'Reilly's!?!?!?!?!?!!!!?! OMG. Haven't been to one of those since I moved up here.. Oh how I miss them! Lol. They always had what I needed and at good prices. Beats out NAPA and CarQuest here.
So she does start, just takes a little while and you can tell its hard on it without the block heater. I'd recommend going to a Menards or Lowes and getting a timed outlet, not sure exactly what they are called, but they only let power through at certain times/intervals. If you leave your block heater plugged in all night, it can run up your electric bill. Using these timed things that you plug into the outlet in-between it and the extension cord to your block heater, it will only let electricity to the block heater a few hours or whatever before you need the car, which is plenty of time for the block heater to do its magic.

Forgive me for not elaborating... I said mine didn't like to start, which to me is not the same as saying it won't start. She just turns over real slow and takes a bit to fire up. She hasn't not fired up yet, but she sure sounded like she wasn't going to last winter a couple times. I started using my block heater in a hurry, and it was a night and day difference.

for the keyless deal you need to either get a build sheet from dodge (website or dealer) or get a car fax and see if your truck came with remote keyless entry. if it did then you can get a key fob on ebay and have the dealership set it to your truck. that is what i had to do because my truck didn't have any key fobs when i bought it but it did have RKE installed.
i'm glad North Carolina winters only get down to about 20º at the coldest.
