Question Changing out short bed for a long bed

How hard is it to go from a short bed (6 1/2') on my 1996 ram 1500 to a long bed (8')?

I believe the frames are different. You would have too extend the frame if I'm right.

You would need to stretch the frame a bit, then need a longer drive shaft not to mention the rear axle and suspension would need moved as well. Why do you need a long bed?

Definitely have to cut and stretch the frame. By the time you did all the work, you could have probably bought a long bed model. Your looking at a ton of work, while most stuff would be reuseable, you would still have you relocate just about everything.
