Time for some sound.

I don't think so. The white side is what you peel off for the adhesive side. Looks like just foam to me. I wouldn't use that on the floor, but it's fine for the doors and headliner. And the link I posted earlier is cheaper.

This is what I have and I think it offers more. Built-in Bluetooth audio AND phone as well as iPod and front panel AUX input. I get into my truck and my phone automatically pairs with it. I don't have to do anything and when a call comes in I just press one button and start talking. And since my phone supports stereo BT I can play all my music from it without having to connect a cable or adapter. I got mine for $169 on eBay.

In my personal experience, Sony decks, albeit packed with features, usually skimp on quality of their amps. Yes, they are usually more powerful, but if the amp quality can't stand up to the load, it's a moot point. Almost every single Sony/Awaia H/U I've had the privilege of tinkering with, had a blown amp. I believe Speeddemon and I talked about a certain Sony H/U that is having amp problems at the moment as well.
Of all the Pioneer decks I've installed, I only had one fail on me, and all that was was caused by normal wear and tear and living in a dusty environment.
I usually prefer to dynamat every single surface that I can in a vehicle, and if I can get all of the door covered, then I will. It helps in the long run all the way. As far as heat protection, out in PA, I don't think that's going to be that much of an issue.
EDIT: Oh, for another $30.00 he can add a bluetooth receiver to that Pioneer, and be in the same ballpark price as the Sony.

the head unit is nice. you'll like being able to pack 20 hours of music on one cd (mp3) and you can organize the music on the cd by putting entire folders on it, then when you put the cd in you can scan through the folders like they are individual cds.
i put the same speakers in the front doors of my dads 98 and they have really good sound. just make sure you keep the grilles on them so the door panel isn't resting on the tweeters.
i don't know if the 6x9s will fit in the rear doors.
use a door clip removal tool to take the panel off (laramie has a picture of it). if you end up breaking clips when you take the panel off then you can get a 50 pack for 11$ at http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Tri...s_p/a19213.htm

I know he jacked up the link for the rear speakers, but I didn't catch it until now. I picked out the same Type S speakers, but only in a 5 1/4" diameter. (Yes, I know that you can fit larger in there, but it's a pain. I know)

my dads speakers are mix and match. we got the front speakers and forgot the back. so i ran to walmart and got a set of 5.25 Dual speakers and they sound pretty good.
since you are going with Alpine speakers, then why not get a H/U to match like this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500CDA1...ures_and_specs

Here is the rear speakers that I showed him- http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPR1...ures_and_specs
Alpines make a good deck, but I don't give them credit for the face plate design. Too busy IMO.
