Default weird theory

was wondering if it wouldn't it be sweet to buy a used 2nd gen thats has the 3.9 and has a 5-speed cause there going to be cheap, and take the 5.9 out of my ram and put into the 5-speed. would the tranny from the 3.9 be able to handle the 5.9 ? and then when the tranny poops take it out of the auto that i have now ....

i would also maybe want a 2x4 just because i would have more power that way and just swap the fun and good part and throw it on the 6 banger that would really be a v8 mahahahaha

The tranny might be able to, as the 5 speed in the 3.9s is the same that they use with the 5.2 V8s. However, from the factory, they used a slightly beefier 5 speed for the 5.9L V8s in the 2500s. Not sure if that was because of the extra grunt of the 5.9L V8, or rather (most likely) the fact that the 2500 was going to see more work and bigger loads.

Thats not a theroy....Just a random thought!!!

I think it would be much better to find a 2500 in the JY that had the NV4500 (The same tranny that was used in V10, 360, and Cummins 359) take that and then get the clutch pedals and master cylinders from that truck too. THat way in the future you wont have a geared transmission blowing apart on you when your ripping through the gears. There was a reason that they put the NV4500 behind the 360. The NV3500 just isnt strong enough.
