Default Broken trans casing 1998 4x4

I appear to have a broken casing at the rear of the trans where it attaches to the transfer case. 1998 ram 2500 5.9 4x4.

Has anyone heard of this before? Any suggestions on the best/cheapest way to fix it?

Do I need to replace the trans or is there a way to replace the tailpiece without pulling the trans?

Thanks.

the tailpiece is the overdrive unit i believe, you could probably find one at a junkyard.
and you will have to pull the transfer case to get it off.

let this thread sit for a day or two to see if anyone that has changed one will help you out with specifics.
