I agree, the frame is in good shape. I'm in NH so I certainly know about rot, and the only rotted part is the rocker panels. I found those for $140 shipped for the pair so not bad there. My concern is making this a SAFE, fun truck for my family. As it sits now, my dog isn't allowed in there. I plan to spend the better part of this weekend working on it.

I talked to PA this afternoon about the lift. They I can get the weld in parts seperately if I need them.

Does anyone know if this problem with the linkage can indeed make me lose D but still have 1 and 2? How many gears is the 1500, I assume 3 + OD?

Thanks,

Todd

I wouldn't *think* the linkage alone would make you loose (D) but still keep gears 1 and 2.
Since (D) comes first in the sequence (PRND21, as you know).

And yes, the transmission would be a 4 speed (3 regular + electronically activated overdrive)

have you infact lost "D", if you drive it, where are the RPMs at? When i put my body lift on my 97, I had to weld in the extension rod that allowed the lever to be positioned properly. I had the same problem as you until I realized that I had to weld in the extension. Also, again, I had the same setup, with the 35 inch tires, a blown plenum, and the 3.55 gears, you aren't going anywhere in a hurry.

Well it doesn't shift, I know that. I can be doing 40 and floor it and there is no shifting that takes place. I tried it at all speeds, uphill, etc. RPMs on the way home not exceeding 60mph were around 2400-2600 which isn't bad considering the tire size, but again, going up a very steep hill it didn't downshift. I can't feel any upshifting either. Turning OD Off does nothing either, usually you would see/ feel an uptick in the RPM's.

Someone please explain the Plenum thing. Would that cause kinda a sputtering under load? She rev's like a SOB, but once in gears she's kinda hesitant a bit.

I hate 3.55's. I have 4.56's in my Cherokee on 35's, damn 3.55's.

try driving in the presummed 2nd gear and barely tapping the gear selecter up and see if it changes, sounds more like a linkage problem due to the body lift. do a search for the plenum gasket problem, much easier that way. turning OD off if your in 2nd gear isnt going to do anything because you haven't reached "drive" yet.

I will give that a shot on both accounts... Thanks everyone, certainly enjoying the pace of this forum!
