My truck has an interesting fluid sound whenever I press the gas. The more I press the gas, the more fluid seems to flow. Thats what it sounds like anyway. The sound is coming from roughly the center of the truck, behind the dash.

It did go away for a little bit but I think it was at the same time I stopped using the A/C. If I remember correctly, as soon as I started using the A/C again, the fluid sound came back. The A/C runs good and will cool me down quick.

Anyone ever heard of this?

 

my truck used to do this.

I had a problem with the A/C going hot after about ten minutes. so i took it to an A/C shop to diagnose it (i kinda figured it just needed a re-charge). The shop told me it needed a bit of a top-up, but that wasnt the problem. there is an A/C line called an "orifice tube", which has a mesh screen in it, they said the screen was clogged and i would need a new one. so with the A/C topped off i took the truck home.

I havent had a chance to change the tube, but the "flowing water" sound hasnt come back. I had no idea that it was from the A/C, but it went away after the top-up.

 

air in the cooling system will create a sloshing sound in the heater core, which is sliightly to the passenger side of center. if you've recently had the system open, air was left in and will usually work itself out as long as the overflow tank is full. if you haven't recently opened it, you may have a leak that's letting in air.

 

like dvaughan said, air in the cooling system. have you lost any coolant lately?

 

so how do you fix such a problem?

 

Could be air in the cooling system. If you recently had any work done on the cooling system i.e. hose changed, system flush etc. then it probably got air into it. On a cold engine remove the radiator cap. Start the truck and allow it to warm up. If the fluid in the radiator is low add some water to top it off. If the water level again drops which it will when the thermostat opens then add more water to top it off. Open the heater to allow water to flow into the heater core. Again add water if it drops down. Once it maintains its level then put the cap back on tight to seal and drive it around. If you still hear it then you may have a water pump issue. If not then it is full and the air gone. Mine did this and it turned out to be the pump. New pump and the noise is gone.
