Default rear end yoke nut

I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. I was on my way home today and my rear drive shaft yoke nut fell off some how and my yoke fell out. I found my yoke but the not the nut so who knows when that might have fell off, but I was woundering if the rear end yoke nut is a normal threaded nut or is it a special one?

Anything helps, Thank you!!!

your yoke nut preloads the pinon bearing and crushes the crush sleeve. If it came loose at all your pinon is floating aroun and probably did lost of damage to your ring gear at least. And if something broke off your spider gears and bearing are completely shot. Your nut slowley loosend up so your pinion gear has not been in the correct place for a while.

Sorry

Looks like a total rebuild to me. You will have to yank the cover to see all the damages tho. Hopefully you can prove me wrong.

well, i don't know that it bought the farm yet.
i also don't know the answer to your question, but i wouldn't think the nut would cost more than a few dollars at a dealer. they might even have an old one in the scrap bucket they would give you.
