Can I remove this??
Can I remove the top support in the pic?? I want to remove and paint..I also want to remove shock and spring. When the spring is compressed and removed does the truck rest on that rubber mount?? I want to paint spring and support.
Thanks

When you say top support, do you mean the upper control arm? If so, yeah it can be removed, but it sure isn't worth it just to paint it. Its a lot of work, and you will most likely have to cut the cam bolts off (they are know to seize). I suggest painting it in place.
As far as removing the coils, when you jack the frame up to remove them, just leave is supported with jack stands, then lower it back down once you reinstall the coil.

Hahahah, I know how that goes... rust just pisses me off like no other.
If you are going to get that picky though (getting areas like that), the correct way to do it is to completely remove the axle, sand blast it, prime it, then paint it... but I guarantee it will still come back later on. Do you plan on just painting it or what?

I often think about dropping the axle...then I look at all the parts...looks fun though...I would need alot of new bigger tools...I just want to get to all the ugly flaking rusty paint...I use POR15 paint...the stuff is awesome...Theres a guy down the road who does sandblasting...i wonder if he can hit the spots without taking out the brake lines, ect...Someday 20 years from now I want to drive it in the parade..The long arm kit looks nice but not what I'm after..Thanks for the info though..

Hmm, thats the first compliment I have ever heard going for POR15. I have not ever used it personally, so no first hand info, but I have read countless threads over on pavementsuck.com of guys using it on axles and frames and then a year later it was all gone and rust again. But, if you have good luck with it then more power to ya!!!!!

oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......as Mr. Bill would say. Say it isn't so. So what do folks do to keep there springs arms axle and bars looking nice after the original paint starts rusting and flaking..something needs to be done I know that...I have a post on what did u do to your ram today that has some pics. Seems limiting the pics you can post. must be easier way to show more than 2 small 360x280 pics in all your post.
