engine temp
just noticed the PO put autolite 3926 plugs in it which are a couple heat ranges hotter than the recommended 3923's could that have anything to do with running hotter?.....i bled the air out today but havent tested it on a road trip yet?
3924 is the autolite equivalant recommended by Dodge.3923 is a mod from the forum here. The actual factory plug for the V-8 is a Champion RC12YC

my 96 360 runs at 220....has since I bought it a month ago...was actually considering the 180 state everyone recomends here maybe its time for a coolant flush?..its odd that you say it runs hotter on the highway than the city....My damn aircooled VW on the otherhand still runs waay to hot even after practically tearing it down to the block and rebuilding....
To the OP -- You'll have to park your truck at a crazy, obscene angle to get the filler neck high. Open it, start the truck, and bleed the air. My truck has been giving me fits for 3+ years with running hot, and after EVERYTHING possible, I parked it at a harsh angle and did what I told you to do. It's been almost two weeks and she doesn't run hot.
Do you have all of the engine tin in place? Yes, every piece of metal should be there as it serves a purpose.

as far as the wv its a kitcar with a completely open bottom (engine area) and no way to seal it up so...with that said it has all of the tin except the usless in my application front piece that would seal the underside from the top and the heater hoses go through...I made a homemade one so the exhaust heat doesnt get sucked back into the engine bay but it doesnt do much....But those are questions better left to the samba forum.... so back on topic..

Augidoggy, hey man I was born in North Tonawanda NY many moons ago, and my Mom is from Niagra Falls. She has told me about the winters up there, burrrrrr.I hope you have some cabin heat with a 180 up there.
Cool, Small world. I've always lived here myself....The winters do suck but the extreme seasons make you appreciate spring and summer more...(Or so I keep telling myself
I actually have a company van so the truck wont see daily use in the winter....It is my driver for snow storms though
i replaced my thermostat with a cold one i think it was 168 or 172 not sure but it runs under the 200 mark. i drove it to s.c. day before yesterday and as soon as night fall hit the temp gauge ran down in the 150 area the entire time up in south carolina and the same during the day as well keep in mind 9 hours of driving then 8 back with maybe 2 stops once i hit florida and had the a/c running again the truck ran just before or just at 200 running at 70 on the high way.......i still am wondering about the intake gasket thing that i keep hearing about with the 360..? what is the deal with that?
otherwise the truck ran awesome on the high way with no problems other then my exhaust hanger breaking lol =)
