Default Newbie to the Ram thing

I have a 2001 Ram regular cab 4x4 with a 5.9/360...I'm wanting to give it a little more get up. It already has a CAI on it and a friend of mine is putting a Magnaflow muffler on it for to improve sound which I'm sure will help the "get up" factor as well. I have a friend of mine tell me to put " R/T heads on it " is he referring to the heads off of a Dakota/Durango r/t? I will appologixe before hand for any " newbie queations " my previous adventures were Jeeps which I owned 3 and loved them....I will have another but until then I will be playing with this Ram.

Welcome to the forum. Everything you've asked about can probably be found by doing a search. There are a few Stickies at the top of the forum with tons of info and some DIY links.

I will make a comment on the R/T heads since that might be a little harder to find.

To answer your question, no, the heads of a Dakota/Durango R/T are not "R/T" heads. R/T heads have to be purchased separately, no Dodge came with them stock, IIRC.

As a wise man once said "Look on your tailgate, if it says Dodge, you have a leaking plenum". No truer words. Fixing the plenum leak and replacing the 02 sensors when you do will go a long way to giving it more "get up".

You forgot to mention the bad cat as a result of the blown plenum.

I still don't understand the whole plenum leak thing...either I am slow or just have never experienced it or don't now what exactly I should be looking for.

Ty for the +1 Zman. Tim, do a search for plenum leak, and you'll find out all that info. Chances are you do have it, but don't realize it.
