Default a/c question

since i got my truck i noticed under heavy throttle or going up hill my ac vents quit blowing and it goes to the defrost vents.....then downhill/letting off the throttle it returns to the regular vents....anyone have any ideas wtf causes this? i check the hoses under the dash they all are in decent shape but i'm guessing the a/c system has vacuum issues? i'd love to fix this....as it becomes quite bothersome when my old lady is in the truck and she starts to complain
