Hi I have a 2001 ram 2500 5.9 Gas automtaic and I have had a ton of wierd problems with this truck lately it would not start so I replaced the cam and crank sensors the one in the bell housing and the one in the distributer among other parts Now it starts and runs but it runs absolutely terrible I mean bucking and and spitting it is terrible until it warms up as soon as the thermostat opens it runs fine and it throws the p1391 code? the code is def for the cam and crank sensor. As for diagnosing whether it’s in the wiring, sensors or the computer you almost need an oscilloscope connected to either circuit. That’s so you can watch the wave form pattern coming off of the sensors. This is while the engine is running and doing its thing, in the hope of seeing a glitch in the pattern.

Short of that it’ll be a complete guess as to what or who is causing the problem. I’m going to suggest taking the truck in and have someone figure this one out for you.

If you’re saying you did the cam sensor yourself, be careful because you need a scan tool to synchronize it to the rest of the ignition system in case you didnt know
