Default P1740 code and a spring found in transmission pan

Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 liter automatic 4 wheel drive with 100,000 miles

I'm getting P1740 (TCC O/D Solenoid Performance?) codes but transmission seems to work ok. I took it on a 700 mile trip and never noticed any problems and had no errors.

I changed the transmission fluid and filter and found several parts: a spring and I suspect two pieces of metal that broke from fatigue maybe the spring retainer.

Does any one recognize the parts.

I think the parts may be part of the overdrive solenoid if the parts are related to error codes.

Thanks for your time,

Don

There's a ton of springs in the valve body, but one that small looks like it coulld be the TCC boost plate spring. Can't tell what the metal part is, pic is too fuzzy.

Here's a pic of the TCC boost plate and clip. If that's the spring, then you also have another part floating around in there, it's been a while since I took mine apart.

Note that superior transmissions makes an improved replacement part: K065

If you are mechanically inclined you could fix it yourself. You'll need about a half a day. If not, at least you won't sound like a doofus when talk to the trans guy.

That's assuming the plate is what your problem is.

It sure looks like the part but only about half of the bracket was in the pan.

Are there detailed instructions somewhere on replacing the plate.

Can I inspect for the spring being missing by just removing transmission pan?

I'm kind of mechanically inclined if I have good instructions and plenty of time. Of course really good pictures like the one that was sent are especially useful.

Thanks for the your info.

Default Does the valve body have to come off?

One more question

Does the valve body have to come off to replace the boost plate?

Thanks?

unfortunately yes it does. The boost plate is on the top side of the transmission. It's very close to the shift linkage post as the photo shows. The Shifter linkage post goes up thru the side of the transmission and the shifter linkage attaches to it.
