The "Ol Hammer Thump" is a very temporary fix at best. Probably long enough for you to drive to the parts store for a new pump. A few key things you should know...

Size of the gas tank(for parts look up purposes it does matter)

They are sold as a complete drop in unit. So don't go looking for justa fuel pump, or filter.

Since its all one unit they tend to be expensive, 200-400 dollars.

Lastly, I hope you have a near enpty tank, or you will need to drain it prior to dropping it. If its full, its HEAVY!

There is an excellent DYI on replacing it in the DYI Fourms on the top of the page.

its not hard, the hardest part is dropping the tank, best thing to do, is make sure its near empty, (less than a 1/8 tank) theres a elec connector, 2 lines, and i think 2 evap lines as well, and your filler neck hose. also make sure your new pump, comes with the sock for the bottom of it, if you dont know what im talking about, just ask the guy at the parts store if it has the sock for the bottom of the tank.

I have an old electric fuel pump that I rigged up with some fuel line and a piece of ridgid metal tube in the end to push thru the rollover flap and into the tank. then aligator clip it to the battery to make it run.

A siphon or if you have a sturdy garage you could unbolt the bed a raise it with a block and tackle.. No draining required that way.

if you have the 26 gallon tank, youre looking at around 104lbs of fuel, if you have the 32 gallon tank youre looking at 128lbs of fuel. its up to you if you want to drain it, or man handle it out with the help of maybe 2 more people, then siphon it out of the tank once its out that way its easier to put back in.
