will a 1973 360 block work in a 1998 ram?
I have a 1973 360 and i would like to use it for a 408 a build less miles on it compared to my 1996 360 with 285k on it. my question is will the motor mounts work? is there adaptors for this?
I'd build it on the Magnum block personally. Both will have to be bored out and pinged for stress cracks. If the magnum block checks OK, after a bore hone, it might as well be a new engine, and all of your old stuff will be machined to fit it already.
While the LA block and magnum block have the mounting ears...my ram doesn't use them. Everything appears to bolt to the side of the block with a cradle affair. I'm not sure an LA block is machined for those, but my memory is kinda hazy.
Thats the bad news, the worse news as stated is a couple of your sensors won't bolt up. You could make them work but between that and fabbing motor mounts, you'd edge up to the costs of stroking your original motor.
Sell the block to someone with an old muscle car or truck, and use the money to start your stroked magnum fund.
