The 2500 had dana 60 front nad dana 60,70 and 80 rear. Mine is a heavy duty 2500 rated to 8800 GVW and it has dana 60 front and rear, along with the heavy duty transfer case the the bigger 47 transmission. If you can find the axles, Make the swap its well worth it. If your near mobile I have a spare dana 60 rear ready for gears for sale. Otherwise complete from drum to drum with a limited slip carrier.

Edit, Yes the 2500 came in light duty 7500 GVW with 3:73 gears and the heavier duty tow package with 4:10 gears.

the only problem you'll run into is the 3 wide leavs on the dana 60 rear, where as your 9.25 has 2.5 inch springs

I think I'm just going to start looking for a Dodge Ram 2500 that was totalled due to body damage, and buy it and set it in my yard till next spring, or whenever I have free time.

If it's a V-8 great, there's my axels and steering. If it's a V-10 or I-6 even better...

Oh believe me, if I go through the trouble of converting the entire drive train and everything else, I'd be switching to a manual transmission. Or at least a 47re, but I'd rather have a manual.

For now, I'd be happy with the axels and the steering.

manual is the only way to go

i am still considering doing a cummins swap into Maroon, if i do, im going to remove the body and box the entire frame (truck pulls are very stressful on the frame)

also id like to replace all the gauges with Autometers (even the factory ones, how cool would that look)

as far as the motor goes, 60 lb valve springs, 4000 rpm gov springs, 110 horse injectors, oversized lines, compound turbos, balanced and fly cut crank, common rail connecting rods and a hotter cam

Thing is axels, and steering are something I can swap over the weekend. I mean obviously all the axel prep work can be done (and would be better to have done) before I put them on the truck, then it's a simple matter of putting them on. Steering the same.

Doing a major drive train swap either to v-10 or cummins, especially if switching to a manual transmission will take some time. So that has to wait till I'm not working. and I suppose I could rent a car in the mean time or something to get around in. I'd be down for it for sure though. Just want to make sure I'd have everything I need before I start taking things apart though. Finding out you're missing things in the middle of a major project is a huge pain in the ***.

doing an engine swap in these 2nd gens might be alot eaiser than you think... i did my v10 > cummins swap in a weekend, the eaisiest way is to find a wreck, do your homework on it and make sure you know all the dammage so that it doesnt interfear with the swap, and make sure you have a compatible year so you have all of the electrical componets.

so the dana 60 is a 12 bolt right. Which is on my truck i believe a 5.2l 1500 99 ram. also how can you tell the difference between all the dana's like the 40 from the 60 and 70 from 80 and so on.
