you cant get the penitration with a stick, weldor you probly can because thats your job and thats what you do all day long i know i couldnt, i am an ICAR cerified welder for structural and non-structural repair, but the average person simply cannot get the penitration, every one in my class was an expert on arc welding because they couldnt get any mig welds that were worth the metal they wasted
Actually good penetration on any material has alot more to do with surface preparation opposed to process. You can get good penetration from most welding techniques, the trick is spending time on material prep. ie removing paint/rust or any other surface contaminants BEFORE the welding procedure can begin. This individual clearly opted to skip that crucial step and well, we have all seen the results. I wasn't trying to be rude to you in anyway, we both just use very different styles of welding to do our job. I just prefer stick or TIG to any other process because of the technique involved. And if I had the time and money I would hand weld the entire frame with TIG, it gives some of the cleanest and strongest welds if done correctly. Thats why its used alot for root passes on pipe.
its a budget build at it best hahahah.....i love how the rear leaf springs are sitting on the ladder bars, lol, well at least they didnt use 30" blocks lol. i wouldnt consider hitting your local mud holes with this girl. hahaha. guess it looks good at 55 tho

I too prefer arc to a mig or tig. If done correctly, you can actually get better penetration from arc, and it's a hell of a lot simpler.
we use stick a lot (thats all were using now b/c our MIG is out of argon)
i once criticized my dads stick welding (long time ago before i knew much, but was still an arrogant bastard) told him it looked ugly, he grabbed the chisel and knocked away the slag....underneath laid a nice clean bead...i no criticize him anymore
I wish i could say its an old mud truck that died a long time ago, but it looks more like a piece of **** thrown together by jethro for advertisement purposes for a few hundred bucks. I agree hit anything at any speed on it and it will start falling apart. As a Dodge owner and a welder im embarrassed for that thing.
