Default Electrical issues

I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 318. The truck sat around for a little while, went to run it and it started rough, had to press the peddle all the way to the floor, and it finally started. The truck seemed to run alright at the time. I parked the truck and when I went to start it again It wouldnt run. I have since replaced the coil, and the crank shaft sensor. The Crank shaft sensor wires were burnt and shorted out at the base of the sensor. This leads me to believe that there is most definitely an electrical issue. Now there is no communication with the ECM, no spark, and no fuel pump cycle. I have swapped out the ECM with a 97 dodge ram 1500 318 and still had no success. Does anyone have any suggestion in what to check next?

Check all the fuses by the door and in the PDC(black box under hood), Try swapping the ASD relay with one of the other similar ones.

The relays don't explain why there isn't any communication with the ECM. I have however determined that the ECM is not receiving and 5V power supply. Does anyone have any knowledge of Dodge wiring that might know where it is that the voltage is decreased from 12V to 5V? I have a feeling that this is a big part of the problem.

get a haynes or chilton repair manual. they are only like 25 bucks. they have full wiring schematics. that would be your best bet

You could also get instant acccess to an online do-it-yourself repair manual by going to www.chiltondiy.com. The one year subscription is only $19.95 and would get you the wiring diagram you need.
