What will a 5.9 in a 1500 take?
Tooling around in low range will put much less stress on the tranny since you've reduced the gearing 2.72:1. Think of it as like trying to take off in 3rd gear with a manual, taking a truck up hill climbs and trying to crawl over rocks or through sticky mud works the transmission or clutch a lot harder than driving on the street, low range is there for increased control, along with that control comes less stress on the tranny or wear on the clutch.
Just don't make a habit out of it and you'll do fine. Our trucks have a rev limiter for a reason. It's not a good feeling when you hit it though. Just keep in mind that the magnum motor isn't designed to operate at high RPMS. We are a low RPM high torque setup. Love it or hate it. That's how we are.
