Default stock exhaust inside dia. and outside dia?

I am hoping to buy a Flowmaster 50 muffler, and know that it will be shorter than my stock garbage can. But my question is...what is the inside diameter of the stock pipe I would be plugging the 50 into? Will it slide right in, and then I can clamp the stock exhaust to it? What size pipe should I be getting to go from the flowmaster to the stock pipe behind it? (assuming that section of pipe is a female/female pipe.

What do you guys suggest?

AlabamaRam95. That doesn't help me. I know that it is 2.5" pipe coming into the muffler and 2.5" going out. But that doesn't tell me if the pipe is 2.5" inside diam and the 50 is 2.5" outside diameter? Or visa versa.

I want to by the 50 and some a section of about 10" straight pipe. So that I can just slide everything together and clamp it down. Every place asks me about Inside Dia. or Oustside Dia.? And I have had to say......er...I dunno.

Am I the first one to attempt this? I mean, buying the entire flowmaster dual exhaust would be great, but I am on a budget. And there isn't any performance increase throwing dual pipes back from a single muffler. AS far as I can see, that is.

The muffler is inside diameter. And the pipe in front is Outside diameter. Buy a pair of cheap plastic calipers.

My 50 series is 3" I.S. diameter going in. So he needs to measure the pipes to be sure instead of everyone guessing.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret tool called a tape measure, there great for measuring things like ID and OD on pipe...sorry I could'nt help myself. But ya me and my buddy both dumped our exhaust, its cheap, simple and sounds good. Mine was 2 1/2 OD I believe, but your better off measuring yourself, takes less time then it did starting this thread. And make you clamp and weld it!

i dont think he understands... they say he has a 2.5 pipe you buy a 2.5 muffle "because" the muffler is fraird a little and will side over the pipe to be clamped or welded,, so realy the muffler is larger than 2.5 so it can side over

im just reading into what his guy said i maybe wrong but i think that wanted he wanted

so go take zman addvise and go measure,,, soif its 2.5in get a 2.5 muffler if 3in get a 3in muffler
